WHAT WE ARE ABOUT

With so many Coaching Choices available to support your chosen Life / Sporting goal we want to be clear who we are. We haven’t just done a few triathlons thinking that qualifies us to coach we have coached and planned our way to being the best over the last 25 years and still strive every day with that.

Goal focused

Communication

Flexible training plans

Applied Physiology

Expertise

Knowledge

Injury management

Family orientated

We have spent a lifetime trying to figure out what works and how to achieve our goals, surrounding ourselves with the best support staff who would constantly challenge and question our methods and plans. The ability to pass on and support others to achieve their goals comes with experience and knowledge of the sport.

We’ve learnt more from when things have gone badly and wrong which has forced us to find better ways of doing things to ultimately be successful again.

From beginners to professionals we have the ability to cater to you and your lifestyle. We have coached and planned our way to being the best in the world and are still motivated every day to improve and get the best out of ourselves and you. We will be taking as much pride in your success as you.

We aren’t going to give athletes something that works for someone else. This has to suit you and be tailored to you.. We know life is busy…. More so now than every and balancing that is critical to achieving success. We love being active and healthy and when there is no specific goal we love to keep fit, active and competitive with ourselves and each other.

Coach/Athlete/Physiologist all have different approaches and thoughts on training and sessions we use each other’s expertise to understand why we do what we do and what’s the best way to make the most gains. We “check and challenge” each other a so nothing is overlooked and we learn from our collective knowledge and experience.

If, this is something that interests you then we would love to hear from you

MEET THE COACHES

Marc Jenkins

I came home from my first few races and was Diagnosed with DVT’s throughout my right leg and a PE. Due to the scaring seen on my lungs it was suggested I'd previously had multiple PE’s. Later it was found I had a number of genetic conditions that would predispose me to clotting.

I tried to carry on racing for a few years but was significantly limited by serious vein damage in both legs.

I began supporting Helen in 2007 and since then we have had a great career as the “JINX SPORT TEAM” with Helen winning multiple World Series events, 2 individual World Titles and a Team Relay World Title. We went to 3 Olympic games as Athlete and Coach.

I work better when there is a goal and when everyone in the team is striving towards the same point with a combined focus. Without the overall goal it’s very difficult to maintain focus and commitment. I’ve recently coached age group athletes to sub 4:30 in 70.3 and Elite athletes to sub 3:45 in their first 70.3 events.

I’ve been an athlete/triathlete almost as long as I can remember. I came from a Surf Life Saving, Swimming, Running background and generally loved being outdoors training and competing.

I transitioned to triathlon when I was 15, the sport is different now to what It was then. As a young athlete I made multiple British Junior teams as I started to take triathlon more seriously and became British Junior Champion multiple times. I raced for the GB surf Life saving Team winning a silver Medal at the World Surf Lifesaving champs in 1998.

I decided to train full time when I was 19 and commit more time to sport. I began racing the World Cup (Now World Series), raced for Wales in Machester Com Games in 2002 and then Athens Olympics in 2004.

In the 2005 season I wanted to progress and see how good I could get.

Marc Jenkins

It is an absolute privilege to have a coach of Marc's pedigree. His passion for the sport and unwavering enthusiasm towards helping me realise my goals has been invaluable. We've only been working together a year but the results have already far exceeded expectation. I can't recommend his coaching more highly!

I have had to train smart, take lots of advice and support from various people and find every possible way to keep moving forward through challenging situations. At times I'd get to the start with a greatly reduced training program due to injury and i’d win or at least get close to it, at other times the reduced training limited me too much and I couldn’t get the training done I needed to.

I have had an amazing career becoming a 2 x World Champion and 3 x Olympian and now I’m a mum to Mali and Max and I'm looking forward to the next chapter of my career at 70.3 and supporting other athletes both young and old on their journey.

I have competed at the highest level of sport and would love to pass on my experiences and how to cope with pressures and perform at your best.

Managing training around two kids has its challenges and life is definlety different to spending 100% time training as a triathlete. I make sure I have a training plan that balances time around the kids and an effective training plan.

I have always loved sport and pushing myself.

I came to triathlon from a swimming and cross country running background,  running was always secondary to my swimming and I did well there due to the fitness from training in the pool. I initially wanted to be an Olympic swimmer, then was fortunate to discover triathlon.

I wasn’t a very good junior, I didn’t enjoy riding my bike and wasn’t very good at it, but it later became a strength. As soon as I turned senior my results and performances improved almost unimaginably and I quickly became one of the best in the World coming 3rd in my first ever World Cup (now World Series) and 3rd in my second World Cup which was on the upcoming course for the Beijing Olympics.

Over my career I've had great success but also many injuries and hard times. I have been limited by a serious biomechanical issue in my spine: spondylolisthesis and scoliosis. I’ve spent years trying to work around these and race the best athletes in the World while only being able to train a fraction of time that I know they’ve been able to.

HELEN Jenkins

Helen Jenkins

I’ve been coached by Rhys for over two years now and in that time I have seen huge improvements in many areas, which has led to multiple age group wins at the Ironman and 70.3 distances. Rhys is an exceptionally knowledgable and experienced coach, who very much knows how to get the best out of his athletes. I look forward to continuing to work with him for the foreseeable future and seeing what else we can achieve together!

My coaching experience started before I even knew triathlon was a sport. From 15 years old I coached the junior squads at my local swim team. I have continually coached/taught from that point onwards (23year!).

I have been Cardiff Metropolitan University’s triathlon coach for 4years, coached several athletes to Ironman age group wins, world 70.3 and kona qualifications and currently Head swimming coach at Bridgend swimming club.

I underpin this coaching experience with degrees in sports science and physiology and multiple coaching courses from ride leader qualifications to being a certified strength and conditioning coach.

I’m a very passionate and motivated coach that probably gets more out of your achievements than you do!

As a child I competed in every sport you can imagine and truly love competition. The feeling of getting a reward after hard work is something that I have carried into all aspects of my life.

I started triathlon in 1999 and very quickly realised it was the sport for me! The feeling of satisfaction you get from crossing that finish line is truly addictive and it has stayed with me through my adult life.

I have trained and raced alongside some of the worlds very best triathlon stars and learnt a lot along the way. To date I have won 7 welsh triathlon/duathlon/aquathlon National titles and one virtual nation senior title on Zwift during the Covid lock down.
